It’s been a long ass winter. I remember trying to wait and turn the heat on after Thanksgiving, which feels like years ago. It’s been cold, dark, and icy. A brutal combination for a clumsy girl like me. I’m pale as paper, but I’ve endured.
How? A spur of the moment decision my godmother and I made months ago. A twelve pack of Bruins tickets. Were we aware of how good they were going to be? Did we know they would play like a Stanley cup caliber team? No. No one did. Not too long ago I couldn’t find a Bruins jersey anywhere besides the Proshop. Now there’s a man in a full yellow spandex suit going to the games. Hockey is back.
So when Lauren from the Bruins ticket office called me I had high hopes. I thought one of three things might happen. Seat upgrades. I know I say I love the vibe in the nosebleeds. But I would be even happier right behind the glass waiting for Lucic to break it. Next guess, I would get to shoot the puck to win a million dollars. And with zero hockey experience I would of course score. Seat upgrades for the season baby, and Red Sox tickets, oh and charity. Or three, I had won some sort of lottery that ensured me playoff tickets. All brilliant possibilities.
But no. It was to tell me they were doing away with twelve packs. The Bruins have gone all or nothing. If you’re a student, I suggest you make the most of those student deals, they won’t last forever. So the Bruins are now a serious hockey team, guess it’s back to watching from my living room. And letting some seriously rich fans squeeze into my old plastic seats.
